Behind the Scenes of a Medical Marvel: Precision Door Hardware in China’s First Ultra-Low Energy Hospital

In the heart of Guangzhou, on the scenic Datansha Island, stands Asia’s largest and most advanced respiratory medical facility — the National Respiratory Medical Center, part of The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. Designed as a beacon for respiratory healthcare, research, and innovation, this state-of-the-art complex spans over 223,000 square meters and hosts 1,200 beds, integrating clinical treatment, research, AI-powered systems, and sustainable design.

CROWN, in collaboration with Savanee, is proud to contribute to this landmark project by supplying over 2,000 sets of high-performance door hardware solutions, including door closers (such as model 072) and a wide range of accessories tailored for automatic doors, steel ward doors, treatment rooms, passages, and utility spaces.

A Fusion of Design, Functionality, and Durability

To meet the complex demands of a cutting-edge hospital, our products were engineered with both clinical efficiency and patient comfort in mind. The selected door sets feature:

  • Wood-grain textured PVF-coated steel: Offering a warm and natural appearance while ensuring superior resistance to corrosion, scratches, and deformation — a sustainable, paint-free solution suitable for healthcare environments.

  • Long-viewing window designs: Installed on ward and corridor doors to allow medical staff clear, quick monitoring while improving light flow throughout patient areas.

  • Custom door closers: Durable and precisely calibrated to ensure smooth, silent, and reliable operation — essential in environments that demand safety, hygiene, and peace.

Built for Smarter, Greener Healthcare

The Respiratory Center isn’t just a hospital — it’s a symbol of China’s vision for intelligent and eco-friendly medical architecture. It is the first ultra-low energy consumption hospital building in China, integrating smart outpatient services, AI analysis, big data, and 5G-powered logistics.

At CROWN, we are committed to supporting this new standard. Our door control systems are designed to be energy-efficient, easy to maintain, and seamlessly integrated with automatic and digital access technologies — making them ideal for high-performance medical facilities.

Proud to Be Part of a Milestone

This project marks more than just a supply contract — it represents our ongoing mission to enable healing environments through intelligent engineering. As academician Zhong Nanshan eloquently stated, this center is “not just for treatment, but for health itself.”

We are honored to play our part in a facility that will shape the future of respiratory medicine, not only in China but globally.
